Shared Recipe Lima Bean & Mushroom Pasta
Aug 2, 2011 on Food.com
I'm a recent McGill University graduate in Humanistic Studies & Social Studies of Medicine, working at Marianopolis College. I've been a vegetarian since 2003, and I absolutely love everything to do with food; cooking, recipe-hunting, grocery-shopping and of course, eating.
I feel very connected to my family through food & cooking, which draws on Irish traditions as well as French-Canadian ones, and all the other international influences we've picked up along the way living in a cosmopolitan city.
When not consumed with (or consuming) food, I am travelling, reading, and enjoying music. Films are another passion, though I always experience the arts & entertainment world in a less academic or theoretical way than many of my friends (aka, I like to watch films, not dissect them).
Where to begin! I can't think of a single cuisine I don't like. I've been discovering ways to adapt all sorts of recipes to the vegetarian lifestyle that's so important to me, and having great success. Some of my favourite cuisines are Indian, French, Italian, Greek, Thai, Irish, Mexican and Canadian, but really the list is endless.
I'm famous for my pad Thai (thanks to a great recipe from Linda McCartney's amazing cookbook), my soups, and my Irish brown soda bread. I'm also quite good with baking of any description, and make a mean falafel!
My favourite restaurants are Pied-a-Terre in Brighton, England, a spectacular haute-cuisine vegetarian establishment that will take your breath away with their exceptionally original presentation and menus; Taverne on the Square in Westmount, QC, that serves some of the best bistro food in the world (in my opinion) and Maison India in Montreal, QC, a humble but truly excellent neighbourhood Indian restaurant that has the best pekoras I've ever had, to say nothing of the entire page of vegetarian dishes that are truly mouth-watering, and their 1st class nan bread - a must!

"This pasta is fragrant and filling, but can transition well from season to season. Pair it with garlic bread and some nice wine and you've got a dish that can be eaten on the deck in summer, using some nice fresh tarragon, or in front of the fire in winter to warm you from the inside. The flavours are all adjustable - more garlic or less, it does..."
