    About Me

I am gluten-free, sugar-free, and dairy free for three years. I started a no wheat, corn, or dairy diet to clear up a bacterial infection, because those foods convert to sugar which feeds the bacteria, so I also eliminated sugar. (Because it defeats the purpose to cut all that out and still eat sugar!) I discovered this new diet leveled out my energy and prevented crashes from being low blood sugar (I had tested hypoglycemic a few years prior.) I felt so much better I made it a lifestyle change and don't miss all the carbs, cheese, and high fructose corn syrup. I eat plain yogurt every morning to get good digestive bacteria, that's my only dairy, and I try to eat mushrooms whenever I can. I occasionally have some brown rice, either as a pasta alternative or as a sweetener in occasional healthy treats. I live on fruits and nuts, have some sort of meat protein usually daily. Soon after I made this change, I discovered quinoa, which I love. I dont believe in deprivation, so I allow some flexibility if the restaurant sautés their veggies in butter, or something like that, but I am pretty strict about everything else, especially the sugar. It's shocking once you start to ask how much sugar is in everything! I will have agave as a treat, and love Turtle Mountain So Delicious coconut ice cream (ice cream has always been my favorite food so this is my main indulgence.) I will sometimes have potatoes but only occasionally, as I try to keep starches to a minimum. If you've ever considered eliminating sugar from your diet, I highly recommend it, I feel so good I don't miss the old way of eating!
