    About Me

    At age 7, I'd call my mother at work with questions like, "How long do I boil the macaroni?" or "Do I have to cover the round steak to bake it in the oven?" just so dinner was ready for Mom and Dad after work. Growing up in Ohio afforded me opportunities to work with all types of foods. My father mixed feed for the local farmers at the family grist mill, so you could say "food" has been in our family in many different avenues. Every year the 4H group auctioned off many of the Beef Cattle, Calves, Chickens, Pigs, Sheep, etc. that were fed by the feed ground and mixed at Dad's grist mill. We were so fortunate, because that meant every year our freezer was stocked with half each of a cattle, a pig, and a lamb; the other half Dad gave to his employees and those in need. Prize winning meat or not, we donned our purchased animals on the refrigerator, enjoying meals of all sorts at the dinner table. Those days of plenty gave me lots of practice concocting meals, admitedly, some very bad, some very good. God Bless my dad, whatever it was, he ate it, never a complaint. Every Sunday morning, I'd get up early to start a breakfast feast of bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, and juice. Oh those "dippy" eggs fried in bacon fat, crispy whites with toast dippin' yolks were the best.

    Our guilty pleasure was to bake for the holidays or cook and bake for a party, then take pictures of our masterpieces. Little did we know in the 70's and 80's that pictures of food would be used on an internet!

    Today, living in Arizona and semi-retired, I cook and bake for my family, our neighbors, and  visitors coming, going, on the go, or for our favorite passtime...Football! Pies are my specialty. I love to bake brownies, cookies, breads (and in the bread machine), rolls, biscuits. Dinners are my favorite from a simple soup or spaghetti, lasagna, pot roast, swiss steak, BBQ ribs, syrup ham, roasted turkey, pork chops, to a large filet of baked salmon!

    I'm excited to share and learn with you in becoming a better baker and cook, or maybe someday, a Kitchen Aficionado!
