"I have made these many times now and they just get better every time! As the sourdough starter gets older, the muffins get more and more awesome. These rise up beautifully and are literally picture perfect. I always end up with about 19 beautiful muffins, and 1 "special" one that I have to eat right away so the other muffins don't make fun of it. ..."

"Made this today out of some leftover pumpkin. The only sub I made was molasses for the maple syrup because I didn't have maple syrup and like the combination of molasses and pumpkin in bread. Turned out very very tasty. Moist with a good crumb and tasty enough to eat alone, but not so flavorful it would fight with sandwich fixin's."

"I have made this a number of times from the Cooking Light version, but made the same substitutions you did. I used yours today and added fresh cranberries which gives it a nice holiday flavor. I took this recipe for Thanksgiving figuring I'd have some to take home and enjoy. Nope! It was gone! Happened that there was a man with diabetes dining wit..."

--cooked down some pears and replaced all but 1/4 cup of oil with that.
--Used chopped pear and apple both, not just apple (I had pears, I don't like them raw, but I LOVE them in baked goods

"I made this last night and what a beautiful loaf! I made a few changes that might help with the flavor issue that people are talking about. I used molasses instead of brown sugar. I happened to not have saffron or turmeric so I used a curry spice blend...awesome! I did happen to add too much cinnamon but that was my mistake (stupidly poured it ove..."
