My husband and I love to cook and we love to eat! There have been times when we practically fight over who gets to fix dinner. About two years ago we joined Weight Watchers and our combined weight lose is almost 150 pounds. The great thing is that we still love to cook and to eat but are doing so more wisely these days. The odd but true fact is that we eat what we really want to eat for the most part these days. We use real butter and you won't find a lot of diet food in our home. You will find a lot of healthy food--we eat lots of beans and vegetables and nuts and fruit but we have a yummy desert most nights--Mrs. Pettigrew's lemon cake or rocky road cake or salty oatmeal cookies. It's all about balance, understanding, budgeting and truly enjoying every moment and every bite of life!
Maybe it would be easier to say to list the foods I won't eat... plain okra (how can a food be slimy and furry at the same time...shudder); dill (I'm getting better about my dislike of dill and it is not so much a dislike as an association between a childhood trauma and the taste of dill; jelly fish (I have a friend who is Chinese who keeps trying to get me to like jelly fish but I don't think there is any hope); veal (abused baby cows) and any animal that mates for life--octopus and geese are good examples.
