I learned to cook at home as a child and it's been a hobby of mine ever since. Although I can get creative, I steal most of my ideas from the one hundred or so cookbooks I have accumulated through the years, or attempting to copy wonderful meals I find in restaurants.
I love Italian cooking and most recently have taken a fancy to Southwestern cuisine after taking a class at the Santa Fe School of Cooking. My favorite dish comes from there -- Black and Red Pork Tenderloin with Onion and Chile Madeira Cream Sauce, accompanied by a corn, tomato, and black bean salsa, and parmesan-cilantro potatoes. Family and friends rave about it and continually ask for it.
Without a doubt, my most favorite restaurant is Patsy's in New York. Of all the experiences one can have in New York City, a meal at Patsy's is a MUST! And, be sure to get their cookbook (called "Patsys") -- highly entertaining, as well as chock full of wonderful and simple southern Italian recipes.
