New Topic Interesting in Emergency Food/Supplies
"I just had a bagel for breakfast, well, earlier to be accurate, and I topped it with cream cheese. Beautiful white, creamy, and so tasty.
And it had expired Sept 2012. Now, this is the popular brand we all know well, and I didn't get it in a tub. It was the foil wrapped brick. No mold, no off flavors, just darned good cream cheese.
I didn't..."

New Topic The food forest... in Emergency Food/Supplies
"This is an article basically about permaculture, rather than agriculture. Perennials versus annuals. Interesting concept, if you have the land for it. I don't feel it would ever substitute completely for the diversity you can get from an annual garden, but the benefit is that you basically set it and forget it. Then, after a time, you get yearly cr..."

New Topic Storing goodness in tips and tricks in Emergency Food/Supplies
"I'd like to think that knowledge is one of the foremost, best preps one can do in case of an emergency, so when I saw a thing where I could buy some little books on household items you can use for other stuff, I bought them.
I think I was had, because most of the stuff they talk about seems to be general knowledge passed down through generation..."

New Topic AAGGGHHHH!!! Instant Milk!!! in Emergency Food/Supplies
"Unlike some of you, I have found this product to be a real boon in my life.
You see, I'm a bachelor, and I've often bought a gallon or quart of milk, only to see most of it circle it's way down my drain. Not a happy thing. So, I decided to try a box of generic instant milk. 23.6 ounces, I think. I got mine from Marsh here locally under the Food..."

Reviewed Gyros - an Authentic Recipe for Making Them at Home
"I had to pop in on this recipe and give you some kudos, Steve. I love to just come here and choose a type of food, load it into the search, then plug away at reading the recipes under the heading I've chosen. For this eve's search, I've been itching for some gyros and as soon as I saw your recipe with the photos, I instantly put it in my saved reci..."

Reviewed Girl Scouts Thin Mints Cookie
"If you're looking for more authentic Girl Scout Thin Mints than that blechy version that uses Ritz Crackers, THIS is the way to go. The first time I tried this from Top Secret Recipes, I was a novice and had very little baking experience at all. The wafers were good enough to eat as a snack on their own, but then you dip them into that peppermint-l..."

New Topic Perpetual Fresh Veg? in Emergency Food/Supplies
"I know this isn't completely Emergency topical, but hear me out.
Can't there be some way of combining a root cellar with a greenhouse to be in good, fresh veg for the whole of a year? Would it be too difficult for a layman or typical farmer in the know to do? I've been researching a bit on both subjects and it seems a greenhouse has been used e..."

Thanks for checking in with me. I've truly enjoyed perusing this site and look forward to engaging with you folks.
I'm a Colts fan! All hail the Champs!
Also a Pacers fan.... not so Champy, heheh, but I still follow them.
I would say I'm a food hobbyist. I love to experiment with new recipes and enjoy reading and talking about food. I like copycats. I also love to dive into one of my 17 cookbooks and find a recipe that sounds good to the tummy at the moment, then rush to the store and make it all up and eat!
I also love baking bread and have had success with it as well as failures, but it's always fun to try.

"This is more of a technique than a recipe, as we all probably know how to make these separately, but the groove is in how to get them all to the plate hot at the same time. Required is a pan and a spatula, a microwave, and a toaster. You think you can't have breakfast on the fly? I'll have you eating in about 5 minutes. Promise."
