    My Journal

I have no recent activity to share.

    About Me

I live in a suburb of Chicago with my husband, daughter (when she's not at college), and a dog who is convinced she is a person. I love cooking, gardening, reading, crochet and other creative things. I don't really have a favorite cookbook - I own over 300 of them! I am also working on writing down all the recipes I learned from my grandmother and were never written down and also those I created for me and my daughter.

    Favorite Foods

I am very eclectic in my food. I love working with yeast doughs. I learned how to cook before I could read so I am a very hands-on cook. I learned how to braid making houska, a Bohemian braided bread, and learned how things should look and feel rather than by reading a recipe. While I like to cook most everything, my specialities are probably desserts, I love Marcel Desaulniers cookbooks for extra-special things whenever I am asked to bring dessert. I love going out to different ethnic restaurants, here in the Chicago area we are fortunate to have and endless variety.
