    About Me

Living in Switzerland where the everyday kitchen has a lot of influences of all the neighbouring countries, I love to experiment with traditional ingredients and to alter them into new recipes. studing in New York, I fell in love with al the restaurants an foodstuff I could get when I explored the city. I love the great variety squashes which are not so common over here and experimented with them.

They were astonished that I did everything "from scratch", even salad dressing. I was shocked that thy could not concoct even a simple vinaigrette, which I had learned when I was 5 years old! They still rememeber "the delicious swiss potato dish" (my variant of gratin dauphinoise" and my Pumpkin Soup. And always, when I'm visiting them, I have to do it over.

I had no idea there was a american food culture outside of Hamburgers and Hot Dogs when I came over and was delighted when my roommates finally introduced me to some recipes from their childhood. And I detected delicious recipes of the American Cuisine: clam chowder, corn biscuits, southern food, all kinds of casseroles and hearty breakfast dishes I didn't know.

Back in Switzerland, I also love to cook indian food, which I love for its variety of spices.

I work in journalism, work with small immigrant kids from all over the world teaching German and I am a classical trained singer. Maybe that helps with cooking - singers traditionally love eating!
