Born and raised in Oregon, I am a Scots-Irish girl at heart and temperment. I am the mother of 5 intelligent, beautiful souls. I love spending time with my husband and children. My kids are growing up so fast! My oldest, and only girl, is in college and loving it. My second child, and first boy, is serving a church mission in Brazil for the next two years. I only have three kids left at home and I'm homeschooling them. My 17yo is taking two years in one so he can graduate early. He will be leaving to serve a church mission in 2013. My 13yo and my 9yo are taking many extra things at home, such as Spanish, keyboarding, etc. because they have so much more one on one time for school now that they're not stuck on public school wasting so much time. We're really loving the freedom of homeschool, and the opportunity to learn so much more each day in less time.
I love cooking and Food.com is my favorite place to find fun, new recipes. There's such a fantastic group of people from all over the world on this site. I love it! (I'm still in the habit of calling it RecipeZaar though.)
My husband and kids are so good about eating the things I fix for them and they always thank me for each meal. We eat dinner together at the dining table every night and always have since they were babies. We love to laugh and talk about our day together. We spend a lot of family time together and are very close. It's been hard having our daughter so far away at school, but she's doing so awesome and we're so proud of her. And our oldest son is loving serving the country of Brazil and its people.
My favorite things to cook have changed over the years since first joining RecipeZaar/Food.com. I'm not even sure I have a favorite anymore. One thing I usually do is take a recipe and follow it loosely.
I can't help it!!
One thing I'm famous for in my circle of family and friends is that I always bring a dish I've never made before to get togethers and use everyone as my guinea pigs. I don't know WHY I do this, I just do. I don't even mean to do it, it just happens. *rolls eyes*
