Shared Recipe Fresh Baked Pita Chips

"For about $3.50 you can get a tiny bag of hard, stale pita chips at the store or you can make 80 fresh, flavorful chips, more than enough to fill a 4-quart bowl"

    Shared Recipe Spinach-Artichoke Hummus

"A recipe I made up for Super Bowl Sunday, inspired by some really good store-bought spinach-artichoke hummus. I thought that using hummus as a base was a brilliant way to veganize spinach-artichoke dip (one of my favorites), so I decided to make my own, chunkier version. My friends said they really liked it"

Reviewed Vegetarian Mushroom Shepherd's Pie - With Vegan Version

"YUM! This is one of the heartiest vegetarian recipes I've ever made! I converted the measurements to American units and adjusted the amounts. See my blog post for details: http://veganomics101.wordpress.com/2012/02/04/mushroom-shepherds-pie/
I also added margarine and soy milk to the potatoes and soy sauce to the filling.

    About Me

I teach art history at two different schools and also give tours at a local museum on weekends, so I need some fast/easy recipes. I try to eat vegan, and most of my creations are also gluten-free.  I don't post any recipes I have not personally tried and liked.  Feel free to adjust the spice, seasonings, etc.

    Favorite Foods

My personal motto is that delicious comfort food can be healthy too!

I collect vintage cookbooks (like the Jello Salad Selector), mostly for novelty's sake, as well as vegan cookbooks.

My favorite restaurants are FüD in Kansas City (a brand-new vegan restaurant...yay!), Local Burger in Lawrence (healthy fast food for vegans, omnivores and celiacs alike), and Eden Alley in Kansas City (vegetarian heaven). I also really like the Blue Koi in KC (very vegan-friendly Chinese fusion, and they have a gluten-free menu).   Central Soyfoods tofu is made locally, and it's the best tofu I've ever tried.
