    About Me

I enjoy cooking but unfortunately do not have the time to cook as much as I'd like.  The upside of that is that my family really enjoys it when I do.  If I cooked everyday, they would probably not enoy it as much.  My husband (aka Puff Daddy) loves just about anything I cook, which is great.  I love to see anyone enjoy a good meal.  And my son, at the age of 17, can be like a bottomless pit.  He has his favorites and some things he won't touch but I love fixing things he likes and once in a while get lucky in having him try something he is convinced he doesn't like.  Most of the time he realizes it's pretty good.  My stepson is 7 and was a very picky eater until the last year or so and he has actually started enjoying real food and has a very hefty appetite himself.  It does my heart good to see them all eat well and enjoy the things I cook.

I've made a hard copy of my Zaar cookbook with all my favorite recipes and it's HUGE!  It's fun trying new stuff and keeping the old stuff all together in one book.  I'm always adding and editing as I go along.  The best part is I can pull my hard copy down at home or go online to get my recipe for that meal.  This comes in very handy when we are out of town and have cooking facilities and I can go online and pick out something I'd like to cook and have all of my ingredients and instructions while out of town.  This eliminates having to plan ahead of time what I think I may want to cook while we are away.  And it's so much more fun to cook away from home because you are not pulled in so many directions and in a rush to get somewhere else or go somewhere else while trying to cook at the same time.

Thanks to all of you who post your wonderful recipes to share and many thanks to those of you have tried my recipes and taken the time to review them.

We have a new baby boy on the way in November 2010 and so it will still be me and the boys.

    Favorite Foods

My number one favorite I think is Thanksgiving Dinner, preferably with my mom cooking it, along with one or two of my specialities added into the mix. Oh, and oatmeal candy (or no-bake cookies as some people call them), once again, preferably my mom's. How is it that your mom can make the exact same recipe and hers end up tasting way better than yours? Same with her hushpuppies when we fry fish--mine never turn out like hers. And the homemade bread she used to make when I was growing up. Oh man, it was so good you could make a meal from just the bread alone. Oh, and then she'd add cinnamon to it occasionally. Whoo-whee, talk about good! I tried making the homemade bread several times and it was pretty good but hers was so much better it seemed an insult to cook it. Seriously.
