I am a veterinarian currently working in a shelter. I love the fact that every day I get to save a life that would otherwise not have a chance. My hobbies are cooking, reading, and crafts with fabric based crafts like quilts and counted cross-stitch being my favorites. I love my husband, kids, and animals, of course. My adventures in cooking began late in life (32 years old) and I love the journey of exploration it has taken me on. My mother always tried to get me to cook when I was a girl. I wanted to be outside with my animals. Now I am learning more every day. I love to try out different cuisines.
I am a southern girl at heart. Southern cooking is in my roots and what I am most familiar. Seafood is also a big part of my heritage as my mother's family is from the DelMarVa peninsula. I remember crab bakes at my great uncle's house as a child. Large pots filled with Maryland Blue crab, shrimp, potatoes, corn and sausage poured down the middle of a very long picnic table. My husband is big into pasta so Italian cooking has become a large portion of my repertoire. I don't think I have one dish I am famous for, but my husband's family thinks I am a gourmet chef since almost none of them cook. We'll just keep that secret going a little while longer!
