New Topic Question-- High altitude converted to low altitude? in Cooking Q & A

"I got a recipe when I lived in Utah for a pineapple nut cake. It was simple and delicious and turned out great. Now I live in WA and when I use the same recipe, it doesn't bake up properly. (In Utah we had to use high altitude adjustments and this recipe doesn't have one) I made it yesterday and it was done (according to the toothpick method), but ..."

    Reviewed IHOP Pancakes- Copycat

"These pancakes are the best!! I;ve made these many many times and they always taste great. I started with the original recipe and have tweaked it over time to better suit our tastes. I use 1/2 white flour and 1/2 whole wheat, I add cinnamon and nutmeg (however much feels good at the time) and a splash of vanilla. I also usually throw in some g..."

    About Me

Hi! Mine name is Gina and I'm a recipe-phile. I'm addicted to perusing recipes in any form. I'm a dreamer. I love to look at them and think about it, but I rarely get around to making them. At least with Zaar, I know I will have lots of entertainment without cluttering up my house. Plus, if I do get around to making something, it is so easy to find.

I am a Gina of many trades, master of none. Some I am pretty darn good at though!!!

My husband recently retired from the US Air Force and we just relocated to the Seattle area. I am originally from the South, but have learned over time that I'm more of a Pacific Northwest kind of girl.

I try to avoid prepackaged foods, but DANG! That's alot of work!!! I haven't gotten away from them completely, but every little bit helps. I feel it's much healthier eating from scratch, without all the preservatives. Not to mention I'm frugal and really like to save money! ;)

    Favorite Foods

My favorite food is BACON. I know it's bad for me, but I love it love it love it!!!!! I guess it stands to reason since my favorite food group is fat/salt.

I love to eat out, probably because I hate to clean up after cooking. Cleaning up makes cooking too much like work. We don't eat out very often though. I'm waaaay too frugal for that!! So basically, I make quick and easy meals and make extra to have later, so it's less work. Yay!! Less Work!!!

As far as restaurants go, I love The Keg Steakhouse in the Puget Sound area. Also The Royal Box in Tacoma for chinese. Oh, and in Federal Way there is La Casa Bella (Italian). Mmmmmmm. I could go on and on, but I'm sure you've seen enough for now. Since I do like to save my money, Zaar is good for helping me find replacement recipes to make at home. If I could just get off my lazy bum......

I also love to travel. Our most recent trip was a tour of Italy in September of 2007. It was so excellent!!!!
