    About Me

    I am military wife, an artist, a teacher, and a mother to my beagle, Willie. I absolutely love to cook (uncommon among my 20-something friends), and do it often. I grew up in the Southern cooking tradition, however my paternal Italian grandmother, who viewed a meal as the most precious gift she could give her family, also influences me greatly.

    As an artist, I value the experience of food, as I do many other things in my life. I look for what it does to the senses. The smell of each ingredient added, the taste, the feeling in my mouth. It is an experience.

    I am looking for some healthy recipes currently to add to my repetoire (lord knows I have plenty of unhealthy ones), as my husband I seek to eat a more complete diet rich in nutrients.

    Favorite Foods

    I love pasta. I make all my spaghetti gravies from scratch in the Southern Italian tradition. Mmmmm.

    I also love A le a'ouil ala chic, or pasta with garlic and oil sauce (aka white ronis) with salmon patties. My childhood favorite!

    I love good Southern cooking. The real deal stuff. Slow, pan-fried chicken, good chicken salad, cornbread cooked in bacon grease in an iron skillet. I could go on and on. You get the picture.

    Also, Mexican! Or TexMex. Almost anything. It is a weakness...
