    Parent of two, curer of bacon, lover of the handmade.  I watch absurd movies, read long books, travel everywhere and walk whenever I can.  I love cooking but shun restaurant work as I value my free time too much and know a dedicated career in food service is life-consuming.

    (update Feb 2013) I am currently obsessed with making EVERYTHING from scratch.  Recipes to follow... 

    My favourite dish to cook is stuff-in-a-pot, in other words, making the most of whatever happens to be in the pantry When things go awry, i call it stuff-in-a-pot-with-salsa. Ah, salsa, what a lifesaver...

    I love eating felafels in Amsterdam, (although the world's best is at Zac's Sandwiches in downtown Oshawa, Ontario,) pizza in Chicago, modan-okonomiyaki in Kobe, laksa at the Chinese restaurant in Nowra, Australia, and everything at Cafe de Commerce, Paris.
