Norway is located about 40 miles northwest of Portland, Maine. After many years as a legal secretary in Boston, my husband, our youngest daughter and I moved into the house where my husband was born many, many, many years ago. After working in Boston for five years as a travel agent, I opened my own travel agency here in Maine in 1999, where I work from my home office. Working from home can be a challenge, but it does provide the time to put together delicious meals that might require the extra time I didn't have when working in the city all day.
I love just about anything I can cook in my Le Creuset dutch oven. There is just something extra good about everything cooked in it.
When my children were growing up, my specialty was "Italian Meatloaf." The friends of my children would always want to stay for dinner when I made it, much to the amazement of their parents.
Whenever I visit my daughter and grandchildren in England, they always want me to make macaroni and cheese, meatballs stroganoff (from 365 Ways to Cook Hamburger), old fashioned beef stew, and spaghetti sauce (and to double or triple the recipes so they can be frozen for consumption after I've gone home).
My pet peeve right now is our 25 year old Jenn-Air electric range--the burners on one of the cartridges just give out periodically right in the middle of boiling pasta, stir frying or usually something that fouls up an entire recipe when the heat goes off unnoticed. It's time for a new range!
