    My Journal

I have no recent activity to share.

    About Me

Well I am a Brit, London born and bred.

Whilst travelling in Australia in 2002, I met an Oklahoman-who I married in 2004 and moved to Texas to be with. We have a daughter born in November '08.

At school in the UK I studied Home Economics, but never really "got it". As I have aged and practised cooking (and eating all round the world!) I have a better idea of what works for me, and how to get there.

The way I grade my cooking is: if I would have happily paid for something in a resturant, I make it a pretty little card, print it out and keep it for ever. If it was 'just okay' I will almost certainly never cook it again.

    Favorite Foods

I know I live in Texas now and it is hardly ever cold- but I do miss classic English (pub) cold weather foods: shepards pie, curry, Sunday roast chicken, cauliflower cheese, sausage and mash etc. Ohhh I am dribbling.
When I hear people saying "English food is so bland..." it really does annoy the do-doo out of me. The resturant choices in the UK are fantastic and we have some amazing traditional foods, and great British chefs.

Husband#1 and I also HUGE fans of anything spicy, so Thai, Indian, Cajun, but sadly I am not a big fan of most Mexican food. I do love fresh fish... and miss real fresh from the sea fish a lot, although husband#1 is NOT a fan of fish "if it tastes like fish". Go figure!?!?

Because of our climate here and the length of our summers we grill on the BBQ a lot and also have salads most nights.

Neither my husband or I eat much in the way of deserts as we don't seem to have sweet tooths. Although when we are 'home' we do always be able to squeeze in an English Cream Tea or two!
