    About Me

I live in southern Indiana and just graduated from Indiana University. This year I am taking a year off before beginning graduate school (and also waiting for my boyfriend to finish up his thesis!) In the meantime, I am working an entry level job this year and he is a student, so obviously, we love cooking and experimenting with different recipes that are low cost! We truly enjoy spending a night in and testing new recipes and new cuisines, and I am slowly becoming more proficient at cooking.

I am a vegetarian (99% of the time), along with my boyfriend, roommate, and sister, so I also enjoy finding new vegetarian recipes or adapting recipes to use meat substitutes.

I love visiting the local farmers market and creating meals from the fresh produce, although now it is fall and I will have to learn to make do with a different variety of produce - so I will be on the lookout for traditional "autumn" recipes.

    Favorite Foods

My favorite cuisines are Italian and Thai. I like Mexican and South American cooking as well (having lived in Brazil for two months). I also like most Asian and Indian food, as well as Turkish and other Middle Eastern dishes. Pretty much, I am open to all types of cuisine!

My favorite dishes to cook are experimenting with different salads and making variations on traditional Italian pasta sauces. I have learned how to cook some Thai food from my parents (my father used to wait tables at a Thai restaurant when I was growing up), although I am not very good at making these things with my mothers help! I am hoping I can find some user friendly Thai recipes here.

My list of dishes I want to master:
    spring rolls or dumplings
    authentic pad thai
    homemade pizza dough
    vegetarian french onion soup
    fried polenta sticks
    brigadeiros (Brazilian dessert)
    capelletti
