"The spiced vinegar works quite well with the eggs, gives them a bit of a zing. I was abit dubious about the ginger but it actually worked very well.In the UK pickled eggs dont feature in pubs much these days. You'll either find them swimming in horrible anaemic faux vinegar in huge jars on fish and chip shop counters or pickled very much like ..."

"I used leftover roast peppers instead of the jar and used 454g tins of blackeyed peas and corn and it made ample salad for 6 people as part of a pot luck luncheon at work. The taste was very refreshing as well as it being a substantial salad but if I made it again I would probably use fresh lemon or lime juice instead of the apple cider vinegar."

The flavouring stand well as they are, the onion soup is not really needed.I made ..."

"I absolutely fail to see why US recipes make so much unecessary use of packet mixes. The recipe with the onuon soup mix was disgusting. Second time around without gave an edible result. With the amount of fat in the baking dish you may as well fry it and it would provide a better and more even surface."
