    About Me

    I am a wife and mother of 2 teenage boys. My oldest just left me for college and the youngest just started high school. I work part time in a local hospital as a Lactation Consultant helping new moms and babies learn to breastfeed.

    In my spare time, I like to spend time with friends and family, read, play games, and attending church functions. Of course, I spend too much time looking at recipe books and magazines and surfing Zaar! My kids round up all of their friends when it is "chili-time"! My oldest just let me know he is bringing home his entire dorm floor for a chili night. 40 freshman guys eating chili? In my house? Scary thought!

    Some of the favorite things I make are sausage gravy, meatloaf, cinnamon rolls, jams, jellies, chicken and noodles, alfredo sauce and casseroles. My youngest and I love to give away jams and jellies for little thank yous. One of his teachers was having a baby and she described us to her husband as "the ones who make the jelly!" What a claim to fame!

    My favorite restaurant depends upon my mood! I love Olive Garden for Italian, County Seat (small, local restaurant) for breakfast, Milano's (small, local restaurant) for pizza, Wok Inn for Chinese and BJs Burritos for Mexican. (BJs is very interesting...it is owned and operated by a Mexican family but is in the middle of Amish farmland in Northern Indiana.)

    My biggest pet peeve (food-related) is visiting a restaurant that cuts corners to save a few pennies. A few years ago, we went to a local restaurant for breakfast and I ordered pancakes wrapped around sausage links. They had taken a small, typical sausage, (you know, about 4" long and the diameter of a dime?) and sliced it in half length-wise before wrapping it in the pancake. How much could have that possibly saved them? It certainly made me wonder what else they did to save $!
