Reviewed Super Sloppy Joes
"I had to improvise a little; I didn't have the steak seasonings so I added a dash of steak sauce and a tsp. of chili powder, salt, pepper and a little dash of cayenne pepper (we like some heat. I used green bell pepper, onion and garlic and pulsed them in my mini food chopper so the kids wouldn't see them. I didn't have tomato sauce so I had to "

Reviewed Potato Croquettes
"I tweaked it a little; I had leftover instant mashed potatoes to firm them up into a rolling consistency I mixed in more instant potato flakes and a whole egg, skipping the milk and flour. I also added garlic powder, onion flakes, a dash of cayenne and chopped chives. I didn't roll in the egg yolk, just in the bread crumbs but it still worked. "

Reviewed Penne with Shrimp and Herbed Cream Sauce
"So delicious, I think this was the best meal I ever made! I also served a salad and breadsticks; you'd expect to pay at least $16.oo for a meal like this at The Olive Garden. My only substitutions were dried basil because it's all I had and Marsala wine for the dry white. I also just poured in liquids and didn't measure, went a little over on t"

Reviewed Sausage, Apple, and Walnut Stuffing
"Other people were having soggy stuffing so I held back on some of the broth; I ended up with dry stuffing... I was disappointed because all the flavors were there but it was a "fail" and I have lots left... I let my son help and he made the cubes a little too big so that didn't help. Over all my whole Thanksgiving Dinner was awesome!. I used Ann"

Reviewed Brined Herb-Crusted Turkey with Apple Cider Gravy
"Brined the turkey for 2 1/2 days and it was very moist inside even though I didn't baste it! After one splash of basting I saw the herbs drip off and so I didn't baste it again. The herbs are expensive and since this recipe called for 3 kinds I simply slit 1 pkg of sage 3 ways for my brine/herb crust/stuffing; I also ended up with about 1 cube b"

I'm a wife and mother to two wonderful teenage boys; I love good food and also cooking special treats to bring to holiday or church functions. My mother is Assyrian and I've learned to cook some wonderful things from her like stuffed grape leaf dolma and chada bread. My husbands family is from the South (Arkansas) and so I've learned to cook some Southern homestyle food as well. One of my favorite comfort meals is "Chicken Fried Steak w/Pan Style gravy, smashed taters, cornbread and collard greens. I guess my range of cooking is very different! Our whole family loves sweets and I like making cheesecakes or brownies when ever there's an occasion to... :)
