Reviewed Chocolate-Chunk Oatmeal Cookies With Pecans and Dried Cherries

"I received this recipe from a friend and they were really tasty. I made my cookies a little smaller and baked them for 8 to 10 minutes. Taking them out while they still look a little wet is key to retaining a crispy and chewy texture. It is easy to overbake these. My family likes fresh baked cookies, so with many recipes, I make extra and keep read..."

    About Me

I am a WOHM to two super cute and energetic kids, who are 6 and 9, and are into sports, music, school, and scouting. My husband used to own a restaurant and is in the food and beverage industry, so he is our resident food snob. While he owned the restaurant, I helped him with catering and was also an official taste tester, helping test and perfect recipes.

I like to make things that taste great, are healthy, and relatively easy to prepare. I follow an eco philosophy in the kitchen using economically and ecologically friendly foods and methods. As much as I love organics, I can't rationalize paying a huge premium for them, so I only buy them if they fit in my budget.

I am Indian born in America and have traveled throughout Europe and Asia. I love Indian food, but I also love Japanese, and Thai as well. I am interested in bento making, which is a method of Japanese meal prepartion that balances nutrition, texture, and color. My husband is Italian, so I know how to make some seriously good Italian food thanks to him. I grew up in Western PA, so growing up I was spoiled rotten with good eastern European food. There are not too many Indian Americans who know their pierogies from haluski or golabki, but I do. I am also proficient in French, so I enjoy authentic French food, especially the pastry, but who has time to make that?

Now I am spoiled living near NYC and working in Manhattan where I can get fabulous food and ingredients any time. I love NYC and couldn't imagine being anywhere.

I am also a big fan of Budget/OAMC cooking. I am not a true OAMCer (I think my kids would rebel ) but I like having good things in the freezer to reheat as needed.

    Favorite Foods

pizza, sushi, Indian, Thai, Japanese, French, lately Vietnamese - yum!
