    About Me

I have been blessed with a wonderful life. My handsome, easy-going, hardworking husband and I have been married for 26 years. We have two very interesting teenage sons who keep me busy all of the time. They attend a cyberschool -- much of their work is done on-line but they also do go into a school building a few days a week. My oldest son took my profile picture for an assignment for his digital photography class. I work for the school and am able to do so from home most of the time. While, in my heart, I always wanted to be a full-time wife and mother, this is probably the best of all possible worlds.

We are very involved in our church. Again, I have been so blessed to have a church that truly lives the Word of God. We have so many friends there and my sons love to attend both the worship service and youth group. I wish everyone could experience a church like ours. Jesus is the Lord of my life --although I must admit that I still try to take control too often Wink

And about this cooking thing...I just love to cook. I visit Food.com almost everyday to get new ideas. I wish I could stay here all day but alas, life must be lived ! I love to travel, read, and decorate my house. I like to watch movies but have trouble finding the time. And yes, I am addicted to the Internet. While there are many negative things about it, there is also so much information and knowledge here, too.

    Favorite Foods

I will try anything once and it is rare that I find something that I don't like to eat. I am trying to cook things that are local and in season along with incorporating more vegetables and seafood in our diet. I love seafood because my mom use to make it a lot when I was growing up. She was a great cook--not fancy but she made a wide variety of things. I remember her telling me that cooking, you just have to follow the recipe. I took that to heart and it gave me the courage to try new and different things. That's Mom, you were the best !!

I collect cookbooks and love to page through them when I find the time. I think my favorite is Jim Foebel's Baking Book. Everything I have ever made from there has turned out yummy ! Did I forget to mention that I have an penchant for sweets? Not a huge chocolate fan, I prefer desserts made with fruits--pies, cobblers, etc. I love cookies, my favorite being oatmeal raisin. And life without ice cream would not be worth living.

My favorite meal, aside from Thanksgiving dinner, would be sirloin steak, medium rare, a baked potato with both sour cream and butter, fresh peas, mashed carrots, and warm caramel apple pie with a dip of good vanilla ice on top. And a diet lime coke to wash it down. Not nutritionally sound but mmmm, good.

Speaking of mmmm, good. My favorite thing to make is soup. I love chopping the veggies, making the stock, and eating it with a good, dense homemade bread.

I'll stop now because when it comes to food, I could probably talk forever !
