    Reviewed Smothered Pork Chops

"I've been wanting to try this recipe for a while and finally made it last night. Suffice to say, it was the most AMAZING, DEEP flavor I've ever tasted (including restaurant dishes) and the chops were SO juicy. It is now my favorite way to cook pork chops. But really, how can you go wrong with bacon, sweet onion, and cream? Obviously not too friendl..."

    About Me

I am a busy mom of two girls, Mariah, age 17 and Aaliyah, age 7. I also have an adult son, Matt, age 20, and Trey, my 2-yr-old grandson. I am the sales training supervisor at my company and also have a small internet business on the side. I love to watch movies with my family, scrapbook, watch Husker footbal, attend live music events, and take weekend getaways with my wonderful husband, James.

James is an amazing cook. We are always looking for new and interesting recipes to try. The difficult thing for me in finding recipes that I can make for the whole family is that James won't eat cheese (he will tolerate mozzarella on pizza, but that's about it) and my 17-yr-old won't eat...well...a lot of things. I LOVE cheese, so I'm always on the lookout for recipes that can have cheese added in the finishing process. I usually end up making James his own "non-cheese" version of whatever recipe I'm trying. Thankfully, my youngest daughter, Aaliyah, inherited my taste buds. She will try anything, and was eating buffalo wings at age 3. So I will sometimes try new recipes for just the two of us.

My cooking inspiration is my family & friends. I love how food brings everyone together. From cooking with my family to  eating apetizers during a Husker football game to bringing a great dish to our monthly office potluck, food is a social thing to me. I despise eating alone, and often won't eat just because there's no one to share the meal with. I love to explore new tastes, but will always hang on to my trusted comfort recipes as well. When I retire, I plan on doing lots of traveling so that I can "taste the world".

    Favorite Foods

My macaroni and cheese is pretty epic. I have figured out the perfect blend of 4 types of cheese for my sauce. My kids do a happy dance when they find out I'm making it. And it's so simple, it's almost easier than making it from the box.

Another favorite in our house is "make your own pizza" night. We buy individual pizza crusts and the kids enjoy putting their own sauce and toppings on it. We get pretty adventurous, using pesto, alfredo, and other fun sauces as well as a wide variety of toppings. I love the combinations my kids come up with, and it's fun to spend time together making our "creations".

My favorite type of food to eat when dining out is Greek. It's not something I've tried making at home yet, so the tastes are always so refreshing. I love tzatziki sauce and Greek fries, and usually get the "Z Plate" at the restaurant I go to.
