New Topic For Connie Lea - My $500 Tomato Plants in Community Cafe

"Okay, Connie Lea, you asked for the story of my $500 tomato plants, so here you go:

Many years and two houses ago, DH and I purchased our first home. It was a lovely yet somewhat rundown Tudor-style house. It was totally impractical for the two of us, and would later prove to be a very deep money pit, but I fell in love with it. The house was s..."

New Topic My Name Is Bakingfool and I Have a Problem in Breads & Baking

"In preparation for an upcoming move, I've been sorting and purging unneeded household items.

I've discovered I have 23 full sets of dry measuring cups and five partial sets.

I have 12 liquid measuring cups ranging in size from a few ounces to quart sized.

I have 30 full sets of measuring spoons, and a bunch of odd singles that have been se..."

New Topic NOT the Same Old Thing in Desserts

"I'm hosting a large family gathering in about a month's time and am looking for any tried and true, knock your socks off ice cream recipes.

I'm expecting a group of 65-80 people, so homemade ice cream is impossible, but I'm open to any other ice cream desserts.

    Thanks!"

This will be an indoor/outdoor function with most of the actual cooking being done outdoors on the grill, with the side dishes (and eatin..."

    About Me

Why did I choose the name bakingfool? Because I really am a baking fool! I live in a region of the U.S. that's swelteringly hot at least nine months of the year, but that doesn't slow me down one bit. People often tell me (while gobbling down whatever just came out of my oven), "Only a fool heats up an oven to 475 degrees in this weather," so the name seems appropriate.

I bake cakes, cookies, pies, and anything you can think of that starts with a batter or a dough, but my real passion is anything bread related - breads, rolls, pastries, biscuits, pancakes, waffles, you name it. I love making it all.
