I am a Mimi of 4, and mother of 2 girls. We have lived around the Pittsburgh area all our lives. I am a stay at home wife, as I have had Crohn's disease for most of my adult life. I have been in remission over two years, thanks to the new medications that are out there for the condition. Before I retired, many years ago, I was an interior designer. I have also worked as a sales rep for a city newspaper.
I think my favorite cookbook now is the New York TImes Cookbook. My passions are reading and music, and making a good meal.Over the years I have had to adapt the recipes I make to my own diet, yet make it appealing to my family.
I guess my only pet peeve is when people keep making the same mistake, over and over again, without really trying to rectify the deal.
Fav. foods are any veggie, cooked any whichway. This is so simple, and so is the dish. City chicken. A great winter comfort meal. Reminds me of my childhood. Served with mashers and garlic green beans, and if you really want to go verboard, home made coleslaw. Topped off with an apple pie-keep that for a bit after dinner for a night time treat.
I am famous for making Yorkshire Putdding. Always at the Christmas Meal. I tried to pass of Popovers one year, but the kids all said it was not the same. I keep the popovers for my hubby and me.
My favorite restaurant is a place called D'Nunzio's Chop House at the Airport in Latrobe Pa. They serve the best lobster ravioli around, and an added perk is watching Frank Sinatra, or Tony Bennet, etc. concerts on the big screen. Don't get there often as it is a bit pricey. But worth it when we do get there.
