I have a wonderful husband (sorry, this isn't the American League - no DH)and five children, two of which are in college. I homeschool so that's a full-time job. I wish I had more time to play in the kitchen. I grind my own grains and bake our bread from scratch(most of the time). I like to garden, especially tomatoes and hot peppers for salsa. I also sew when I get a chance. I have several years of Southern Living cookbooks that I can always count on for wonderful recipes and I am on the look out for a Woman's Home Companion cookbook from the 1950s, like my mother had.
I like to cook lots of different things but I guess I'm best known for my pounds cakes. I've been making them for 35 years. I enjoy making special ethnic meals from whatever culture or era my children happen to be studying. My husband and I like to try local brew-pubs when we travel.
