"Definitely a 5 star recipe...I also increased the sugar to 1 cup and the vanilla to 1 TBS. I really feel guilty that this is my second year to make them and I'm just now getting around to rating the recipe! Such a simple recipe for someone like me who is not a baker and to have such great results...Thanks so much!!!"

"Great recipe! I too would cut back on the amount of broth to allow it to thicken quicker....I thickened it with corn starch and was just what I had been looking for..my wife who is Mexican also gave it a 5 star rating! Thanks for posting....................Rick B(2"

"Great taste! Has a great kick with just enough heat... I made half of the original recipe and the only change I did was to soak the beans overnite so may cooking time was only about 1 1/2 hrs. Thanks"

"Very, very good! I didn't stray very far from the original recipe...I used 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef, used plain mashed potatoes and added 2 cloves of minced garlic to the meat when browing. I also would suggest, depending on the thickness of the frozen carrot slices, to partially cook them in the microwave before adding to meat mixture..this way yo..."

"Great recipe. I added 2-3 cloves of minced garlic to the meat mixture and used chicken broth instead of the water to the sauce. Had no ham bone, but a couple of pork neck bones added to the dish seemed to have done the job. Thanks!"
