"I make these a couple times a month and they always turn out perfectly. You can use regular milk, too or oil, lard, butter, or any shortening. I can't image them not rising. Mine always have."

    Reviewed Oven-Fried Chicken
     |  (1 person found this helpful) |  By Chef #318517

"This really should be entitled "Faux Deep Fried Chicken"
It tastes like deep fried chicken but without all the oil. The bit that is soaked up in frying is released when baked on the rack. It doesn't have much seasoning even after a 34 hour soak in cayenne etc. but I imagine the oil that is used will change the flavor and I supposed adding a pa ..."

"These rise high and are soft and gooey. Made half a recipe with a Jiffy cake mix on dough setting of my bread machine and refrigerated overnight then let come to room temp in the morning before baking. No one could stop eating these warm wonderful easy rolls."

    Reviewed Garlic Roast Chicken
     |  By Chef #318517

"With all the raves I expected something spectacular. Unfortunately, the only really excellent part of the recipe was the carots. The chicken tasted pretty muchy like any good roasted chicken but entailed a lot more work. I was disappointed,"

"The sauce was a lot of work for what the end result it. If you must try this recipe buy a jar of spaghetti sauce and thin it with chicken stock. The filling was interesting. The cabbage would have been better if it were regular green cabbage. I pefer slavic version of stuffed cabbage (golabki or Hungarian, or even plain old American cabbage r ..."

    Reviewed Grandmas Sloppy Joes

     |  By ~*Miss Diggy*~

"There are tons of ways to make sloppy joes but this is not one of the better ones. It comes out too greasy and if you want really good flavor, you have to add lots of your own tweaking. Would benefit from carrot, celery, green or red pepper. But then you'd have a different recipe"

     |  By Chef #318517

"I was dubious because there was no celery seed, onion, garlic, or green pepper. But it was great. And so easy. The fresh lemon juice gave it an extra zing. I thought it needed a little extra sugar but maybe that was because I had one that had an extreme amount of juice "

Reviewed Black-Eyed Peas with Bacon and Pork
     |  By Chef #318517

"With all that cooking and ingredients, I would think this should be something special. Instead it tasted like ordinary canned black eyed peas with meat. Couldn't taste the heat at all, nor the garlic. And don't mash them. Makes them mushy and pasty."

"Used coke instead of apple juice and cooked it in my slow cooker then on the grill at the end. Didn't have to wrap it in the slow cooker. If you like dry rub ribs, this is the recipe. If you like wet ribs, serve w BBQ sauce on the side or over at the last few minutes of cooking"
