    Reviewed Buttermilk Pie
    Handle
     |  By thefensk

"I dont like to taste eggs in my deserts, so I was skeptical about this pie; however, I had all of the ingredients and my hubby was asking me to make "goodies". I made this according to the recipe, subsituting half of the sugar with splenda due to guilt. The result was very simple and tasty (not eggy, reminded me of a firm bavarian cream..."

"This cake was wonderful! I grated my apples with the peel on because I am lazy, I also subbed plain fat free yogurt for the apple butter because I had none. The grated apples sortof melted into the cake, making it super duper moist. This recipe filled my bundt pan completely plus a small foil loaf pan...enough to share!"

"Another rave review! I made this tonite and added a clove of finely chopped garlic, reduced the butter to 2 tbsp, and used best foods low fat mayo. I dont usually like tilapia, it tastes muddy to me, but the topping eliminates that flavor. My two preschool aged kiddos scarfed it down, and the house smelled delicious while it cooked. Mine spent 10 ..."

"Pretty good. I subbed applesauce for the fat and these muffins were nice and moist. We did feel they were missing something, some cinnamon or lemon zest maybe."

"The best! Not just the best gingerbread, possibly the best cake never. I have been making this recipe since I saw it posted on Smitten Kitchen, I make it in a bundt pan and it turns out reliably delicious every time. I do sub 1/2 cup of the oil with unsweetened applesauce, I have also tried a variety of stout beers. I believe guinness turns out th..."

"We loved the glaze, it is sticky and savory, exactly what chicken drumsticks need to make them special. I didn't use the hot pepper because I have toddlers who dont tolerate spicy, but an extra clove of garlic would have been nice."

"The topping is the only part of this recipe that I have made...and it gets 5 stars by itself. I first made it to top pumpkin muffins and I now use it to top any muffin I make. It is a tasty alternative to streusel and hey, oatmeal has fiber, right?"
