"I made this toffee to put on popcorn. I wanted something a little different. I cooked it on the top of the stove for 20 minutes on low.. you have to stir all the time.. so 20 minutes of stirring is a lot. I had the popped corn in the oven so poured the stuff over the popcorn. It tasted like butterscotch pudding to me. So I then baked it on the co..."

"Please do not use this recipe if you are going to can it... Using canners or hot water baths is no place for guessing games. It is very important to follow tested recipes as the interior of the jarred fruit or vegetable has to reach at least 155 for a proper period of time dependent on what you are cooking. Salt is also used in canning recipes as ..."

"@ chef 1396052. I would guess you probably used margarine not butter and that is why it would taste like "pure shortening", because the shortening ratio is not that great!!! Or you used old rancid shortening and that is what you tasted. I have used this recipe for years. It's ratios are correct so you don't taste shortening like some of the other ..."

"The sauce is the key!!! We eat this just as a salad.. I use what I have in cupboard for beans, peas, onions and peppers...The longer it sits the better it becomes. I have also sub-ed honey for the sugar and it was just as good.. also used olive oil"

"I did not have any trouble with this recipe. I was afraid of too much sesame oil taste so I only used 1 T in the sauce. I like the taste of fresh ginger so I added that to the sauce... it was very good. I did the 1/2 cup sugar instead of the 1 cup. The chicken cooked up well... I would do this recipe again. Thanks."
