Reviewed Oatmeal With Maple & Brown Sugar

"Made this for breakfast this morning, the boys loved it. Also, now fixing it for them for a Saturday lunch, guess it was a hit. We may have added a little extra brown sugar and syrup! Mmmmm! Thank you!"

Reviewed Slow Cooker Orange Chicken Breasts

"Very tasty, better than I expected. The whole family liked it. I made the sauce with Daisy light sour cream and it worked well, I was the only one that used the sauce. Also, not overbearing orange flavor, nice! We ate it on a busy weeknight so I didn't fix anything special but it would be nice with pasta or rice."

    Reviewed Sorghum Molasses Oatmeal Cookies

"I bought some sorghum at local farmers market. I went searching for recipes to use it in. I like to try new things, in this case old things. This is a great recipe. Very flavorful, sweet, and different from typical spice or gingerbread cookies and also different from oatmeal. I had bought some oat flour and used half and half oat and all purpo..."

    Reviewed Kittencal's Best Deviled Eggs

"I tasted this at home and worried about the garlic. I added optional garlic and used seasoning salt, and I tasted them and thought maybe too overbearing (very critical of food I take to gatherings). I put filling in a gallon bag and when I got there piped it into egg whites. I got rave reviews. I also used freshly gathered eggs from our chicken..."

Reviewed Kittencal's Sausage Sawmill Gravy (With Biscuits)

"Made it with jimmy dean hot sausage and a little extra black pepper, it was a hit. Made biscuits that were "ok" and it didn't matter, the gravy was awesome! Thanks again, dinner tonight a hit! A special meal, not a once a week kind of thing. Used 1% milk and I can't imagine what it's like with a more rich milk base. Very rich and tasty!"

    About Me

I am a working mom, with stay at home mom aspirations/dreams. I spent way too long going to school, so it probably will never happen. So, I will continue to use my days off cooking happily away for my family and playing around in the garden.  We added chickens to our little homestead and focus on exposing our 5 and  6 year olds to lots of different foods! My husband never complains about what I make, although I try to stick somewhat close to stuff I know he will eat. I love food the zaar, Alton Brown, and Americas Test Kitchen Family cookbook (great basic recipes).
