I didn't always know how to cook beyond the basics like rice, Ramen noodles and scrambled eggs. But I always wanted to be a great cook like my late, paternal grandmother, my mother, one of my aunt's who is a chef and Rachel Ray. I joined this site when it was still Recipe Zaar and started out trying super easy recipes that were five ingredients or less- no lie! (I also get a lot of great recipes from Pinterest. Many of them are linked back to here.) From there I started trying more recipes on here, from Pinterest adn cooking blogs that looked good and involved more components. I started out following them verbatim and then I would get adventurous and try different things by adding, omitting or substituting things within recipes to make it my own; suit my tastes.
I am still not at the cooking extraordinaire status that I would like to be at but I am happy to say that I am well on my way. I truly enjoy cooking now and love seeing people enjoy my cooking. I can't put a price on that feeling. When you cook, you are giving yourself and others the gift of nourishment. We need to food to stay alive and thrive so in essence when I cook, I am giving people life! I love that. I'm an artist and creating flavorful food, plating it pretty (still working on this), and creating new textures and flavors is a form of art. An art I'm excited in mastering. It's so much fun exploring and trying different recipes and creating my own.
