I am a wife and mom and love to feed people! I have a daughter who was born the summer of 2009 and have been lucky to be a stay-at-home mommy and wife since she was a little over a year old. My daughter is a very good eater and will pretty much eat anything I give her. She loves broccoli and other fruits and veggies.
I have lots of hobbies but not a lot of time to devote to them. One of my favorite things is going to yard sales and flea markets with my mom. I have a small collection of antique china pieces that I love to display and use. I am always looking for more pieces to add to my collection. My husband and I inherited a large salt and pepper collection from his grandparents and we are continuing the tradition. They have travelled all over the world and have some really unique shakers so we are always on the look out for fun and interesting pairs to add. I also have a love for nature photography and always have my camera on me.
We recently adopted a 6 year old Husky from our local ASPCA and named him Kodiak. He goes with us most places and pouts and whines if we leave him at home. It is hard when you get a dog that has a whole life that you know nothing about! We are still arguing over what he wants to eat, but I think eventually we will come to some sort of agreement. He is wonderful with children and all other animals so he was perfect to bring into our home.
We also have two cats. Laverne who is 17 years old and Baxter who is about 4. They are complete opposites, but are very fun to have around.
My husband and I got married on 06-07-08. We enjoy travelling and just being together. He is very good at making jewelery and I love wearing all his pieces. I make a lot of things for my husband to take to work to share at potlucks. He takes his lunch everyday from the leftovers of the dinner the night before. Everybody is always looking to see what I've made for him.
My favorite foods include barbeque, New Mexican food, crab, steak, burgers, and pasta. I am always on the lookout for the perfect spaghetti sauce and I think it will be a life-long quest. I make a very good chocolate cake that I adapted slightly from Ina Garten.
My husband and I are always on the look out for great new restaurants to try out. We live in the largest city in our state, but we still don't have many options for eating out. The food scene is starting to grow and change so it is very exciting for us. We also don't have a lot of grocery options so many ingredients aren't available to us at reasonable prices.
I make a lot of recipes, but since I never measure or write anything down I have a hard time posting them.
I rate things very simply:
5 stars we loved it! May have changed the seasoning to suit our family, but nothing wrong with the recipe. Also it might just be a great one to build on.
4 stars we like it. Changed things having to do with the bones of the recipe.
3 stars we didn't really care for it and had to change too much to keep it the same.
Haven't had to use less than this. I can usually tell what the recipe will taste like just by reading it.
