    About Me

I live in mid-central California (USA). My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because it excludes no group because of race, religion nor the like. It doesn't have the commercialism associated with it that other holidays do - or at least not to the same extent - and it celebrates those one cares about and having an attitude of gratitude. My passion is reading. I don't have just one favorite cookbook though my "go to" cookbook is a collection of community recipes from the area in which my parents grew up. My personal cookbook collection has just been whittled down due to lack of space but I kept about 60. I enjoy reading cookbooks from the library as well as surfing the internet - especially now that I've found Recipezaar - for recipes online. It is especially fun to try recipes from other countries and/or cultures.

    Favorite Foods

My favorite dish to cook for others is probably Sri Lanka Curry (pub. in Good Housekeeping International Cookbook). I serve it with 8 - 12 toppings available and of course, rice. It's just a fun dish to serve to people who've never tried curry before. It is the recipe my friends most often request. One friend says it is "a party in your mouth". My favorite restaurant is Hana Sushi - Japanese food obviously.
