I'm no professional cook by any means, but thats the beauty of cooking... you dont have to be. just know what your doing, have a recipe for reference, have someone whose hungry and wanting to eat, dont burn the food and dont cut off a finger while preparing. its as simple as that...really. a recipe might be time consuming, but take the time and your efforts will be rewarded.
My fella is from El Salvador, so I enjoy making him American style food like meatloaf and mashed potatoes. He loves my cooking or hates to cook himself, eithor way. I have recently mastered the Salvadorian Pupusa with Curtido and Salsa and the Carnita Tamale. Talk about time consuming but I'll tell ya, these little buggers are addicting. I like to make soups and stews, am a self proclaimed genius of the chicken finger and only use a recipe for a reference. I enjoy baking cookies and brownies from scratch and have alot of fun with candy making. My peanut brittle is off the chain. Sometimes, you know what you want something to taste like so Wing It!! You might surprise yourself. We like fresh veggies and good meats, none of that Walmart meat and veg... go to a meat market and a fruit stand.. it is a bit more expensive, but if you go for a package deal, (40 lbs variety cuts for about $118.00) you save so much money in the long run and have the best quality and taste you can have.
