    New Topic yogurt substitute for pumpernickle starter needed! in Breads & Baking

    "I have a recipe for pumpernickle bread that has an overnight starter. My trouble is that I have no yogurt, 2T are required. What can I substitute for the yogurt as I really want to make the bread tomorrow?"

    "This was so easy to make up early in the day. I added 1/4 tsp. sesame oil. I spooned the sauce over baked chicken and sprinkled hot pepper flakes over the top. Very easy, flavorful and colorful! Thanks."

    Reviewed Oatmeal - Raisin Bread (ABM)

    "We just finished sampling this bread and both of us give it 10 stars! I soaked the raisins in a bit of brandy and added 1 tsp. of cinnamon. I had to add a bit more flour but fingure that was because the raisins hadn;t totally drained. I used the ABM on dough cycle and then split the dough into two loaf pans. Baked the loaves at 350 for 35 ..."

I cheated for the "starter" and used the overnight method in recipe #271717 which is a fantastic loaf of bead in case you;re interested. I also used my bread machine but only made 1/2 batch so it wouldn;t ooze out of the pan..."

    "This was soooo good! I used up some leftover gravy and added peas and 1/4 tsp. oregano. This really held together well and was not running all over the plate like my usual beef pies. This will go in my favorite beef recipe folder! Thanks."
