    About Me

I live near Austin Texas with husband and 2 growing boys. We love camping, and we live next to Lake Travis so love anything water-related - boating, water-skiing, swimming, kayaking, fishing, or just hanging out in lawn chairs sipping on cold beverages. As one of my favorite t-shirts says, "Life is Good"

    Favorite Foods

I grew up as an EXTREMELY finicky eater. Nothing green, nothing I didn't recognize, no onions, basically spaghetti or sandwiches! I've come a long way, as one of my friends likes to remind me. I married a man who gasps in horror if there's not something green on his plate for dinner. So now I'm getting much braver in trying new ingredients and new methods. It doesn't always work out, but that's OK because at least I'm trying new things and I've discovered lots of wonderful food that I wouldn't have touched before I was in my 20's. I have to admit that I'm still scared of phyllo dough, and won't go to the trouble of kneading bread (yay for bread machines). And I now LOVE onions and garlic!

So I look for recipes that are unique and delicious but also not too time-consuming or too many ingredients (although I will do the elaborate complicated meal once in a while). Favorite foods are fajitas, sesame chicken, pizza and a good juicy tender steak cooked on the grill. I'm trying to learn to cook a little bit healthier, which is hard with the boys, since they could live on chicken nuggets and pizza. Well, OK, it's hard for me because I love the fattening foods the most; the boys are actually pretty good now about trying new things (they didn't get my picky gene).
