Reviewed Chinese Hot and Sour Soup

"I liked it but it was not quite what I was hoping for. I added a little more vinegar because mine was very mild, and some white pepper but it still wasn't quite right - just not quite sharp enough. Will keep trying!"

"Very good. Next time will double the sauce. Added broccoli and cauliflower. Tweaked the cooking method a bit - did chicken in batches, removed from pan and then did broccolli, cauli and onions first, adding mushrooms and peppers later so they didn't overcook. Then threw chicken back in just before adding sauce."

    About Me

I was born and raised in the USA but now live in Melbourne, Australia. I have been here since 1999. My husband is Australian. We have a two daughters (born May '05 and May '07) and a yellow Labrador.

I cook mainly for my family. I do my best to feed them (and myself) plenty of whole grains and vegetables, with small amounts of lean meats and "good fats". Most of my recipes will lean in that direction, although sometimes I will post something that just tastes good!

Yes, I serve wonderful, healthy dinners and then pig out on junk the rest of the time (usually when the kid is in bed!). I have a major sweet tooth. Like most people, I should probably take better care of myself. I think I have improved in the last few years, at least.

UPDATE ... well I was going to strike that last paragraph, but suffice to say I am currently trying to shed a few extra kilos. My method is simply to exercise more, and eat the way I expect the rest of my family to eat! Wish me luck ... :)

Thanks to kiwidutch... for my icon picture. In case you were wondering, they are "Gingernuts".

    Favorite Foods

I adore Mexican food but find here in Australia I mainly need to cook it myself to get the flavour I am looking for.

I am on the lookout for the perfect steak fajita marinade. If you've ever been to Rio Grande in Arlington, VA ... THAT is the one I want.
