    I am an Oregonian who's lived all over the continent, and married a 5th-generation Texan. My passion is wine, my comfort and delight is cooking and eating well, and my survival skills involve reading, camping, hiking and knitting.

    The original Moosewood Cookbook taught me how to cook, not just follow a recipe. Suvir Saran's Indian Home Cooking is the best Indian cookbook I've ever used, and really taught me a lot about using whole spices. I love experimenting!

    Favorite Foods

    Cuisines that fascinate me include Indian, Ethiopian, Chinese, Greek/Mediterranean, vegetarian and Italian.

    I'm a baker as well as a cook, though I have some unresolved issues with yeast. Love to bake pies, cookies and cakes.
