    About Me

    I'm a stay at home mom with a 2 year old son, and a student studying for my bachelors in environmental science. I've always been pretty domesticated, which I'm not ashamed to say, and I learned how to cook from watching my Grandmother Dee growing up, as well as watching culinary shows after school. My first 'real' culinary try, was creme brulee at age 14, which tasted good but alot like flan.

    I have alot of my Grandmothers old cookbooks, including a Betty Crocker Recipe Box filled with recipe cards from the 1960's. I LOVE LOVE LOVE vintage cookbooks! My favorite cookbook from my Grandmother is the Favorite Recipes of America : Desserts, Vol.1, and I've probably made over 50 recipes from that worn out thing! I refuse to make desserts out of a box, for me they have to be from scratch to be truly good. 

    Food is definitely a pleasure for me, and I love to change others opinions on eating. I also encourage others to try new things! 

    My passions include music and art, enjoying it and creating it. 

    Favorite Foods

    My favorite foods are international, mainly Asian (Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Indian) though I love to indulge in anything French or Italian. I'm very skilled at cooking vegan/vegetarian dishes, and have been a vegetarian on/off for over 7 years.

    My favorite dishes are the ones I make during the holidays, and I'm known for my Red Wine "Beef" Stew, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Fried "Chicken" Tofu and Gravy, Layered Salad, Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie, and My Pantry Soup and Everything But the Kitchen Sink Mashed Potatoes. 

    Favorite restaurants are Sweet Tomatoes, Mellow Mushroom, Figo, The Flying Biscuit, Planet Bombay, Taqueria del Sol, Thumbs Up Diner, Yeah! Burger, Ria's Bluebird Cafe, Kitschen 155 and Ru San's Sushi. I also LOVE fro-yo places like Menchies, Yogurt Tap and Red Mango.
