    About Me

FrownI wish the powers that be would realize that NOT EVERYBODY has access to high-speed internet. Some of us are reduced to lower speeds. I use a Sprint air card and it could be worse.....I could have to use dial-up. It is so frustrating when all of the background hogs, i.e., ads, shopping sites, surveys, etc. are all on a rant and you can't even get the site to work.  In order to save my sanity (and my hair from all the pulling), I've started putting recipes that I want to re-use into word processing documents.  It certainly has taken all of the fun out of the old Recipezaar.  Call me old-fashioned and grumpy, but I don't come here to shop, give surveys or any of that other nonsense.  I come here to find recipes, advice, and inspiration from other foodies.

I am leaving the previous paragraph because there is such a huge difference in the web site when you have access to high speed internet.  Since moving to Huntsville and now in the city limits, Food.com is much nicer to use.

We are now able to have wi-fi, and I have my laptop on the kitchen counter.  It makes it wonderful to cook!!  (and no,  I'm not  trying to cook that old laptop!)

The old Recipezaar worked well on slower speeds because it wasn't so interactive.   But, since Food Network is all about the money, I guess this is the way it's going to be.  I still really miss the folksy family feel that Recipezaar used to have.

We have lived in the bustling DFW Metroplex, the LBJ Grasslands on the Old Chisholm Trail and most recently, we have re-located full-time to Huntsville.

I like to cook homey dishes, and try to focus on low-cost recipes. If a recipe isn't too complicated, I will always give it a whirl.

PET PEEVES!!  The self-appointed food critics who come onto this site, merely register and then leave scathing reviews.  They  never even make the effort to fill out their pages.  I doubt most of them even bother to make the recipe.  They bring absolutely nothing of value to the table.
