    About Me

    Currently working as a mental health provider for the US Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. I work in Deployment Health - counseling military members returning from war. I was a bartender for 13 years (so the move over to counseling was not too great a leap...) and when I have time, love to write. My passion is travel, and eating is also one of my favorite pastimes - so working out is one of my not- so-favorite, but very necessary, hobbies. My husband is a Marine and we moved to Okinawa Japan more than 5 years ago (May 2006) and hope to be here until May 2014 (after that who knows?!). We have 2 grown children (my stepchildren) living in Florida and 1 crazy Rottweiler (living with us). I love cooking but wish I had a sous chef to do all the dirty work (my husband does the dishes when I cook so I really can't complain)!!!

    Favorite Foods

    Lasagna (no sausage in it though please!), gnocci, and just for the record can not imagine why anyone in their right mind would put cinnamon in pasta sauce, I devour any kind of pasta (except whole wheat pasta), green beans & asparagus (if I have to eat a green vegetable), potatoes, and most carbs!!! I love indian food and thai food but am not into super hot and spicy foods.

    My best dishes are Chicken Marsala, Chicken with sundried tomatoes and goat cheese, or Chili.
