"Good basic mashed potato recipe from my family"
Oct 7, 2012 on Food.com
I live and work in Dallas, TX. I'm a librarian for the Dallas Public Library. I am continually being told that I should open my own bakery/restaurant. But I love my job as a librarian. Being in the kitchen is my hobby. It is what I do to relax that and reading any mystery I can get my hand on. I particularly love the mysteries that have food as a character. I have a eight-year-old son, who loves to be in the kitchen with me. He wants to help me with everything. His favorite thing to do is to crack eggs for me when I need them in a recipe. He can crack them with one hand [of course I have to double check them for egg shells: )] and he tells me that he wants to be a chef when he grows (or sometimes a dentist and I have no idea where that came from). He and my husband are the two great love of my life. Followed closely by books and food. My husband loves to tease me about the fact that I never follow a recipe exactly. I always wind up tweaking it in some way to make it uniquely my own.
I pretty much love all foods, but I'm famous for my cheesecakes and my English toffee.

"I've been making this pie since I was in high school. It is very popular with my family especially at the holidays. It even makes a good chocolate pie if you want to leave out the nuts."
