    Reviewed Baked Ziti with Meatballs

    "First off... Tomato sauce does not mean canned tomato sauce. Anyone who watches Giada knows that. I went with a homemade sauce since I hate jarred sauce. My recipe: 2-28 oz cans of San Marzano tomatoes in puree, 1/2 onion (chopped), 3 tbls olive oil, sprig of fresh thyme, sprig of fresh basil (cut in strips). Sauté onion in hot olive oil for a couple mins, add tomatoes and herbs, bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 15 minutes (remove thyme sprig before moving to the next steps of the recipe). That's it! I opted for Italian sausage instead of meatballs, if you choose sausage too, add it to the oil, before adding onion in the sauce recipe above and follow the recipe as follows... My husband said it was the best ziti he'd ever eaten and I must concur!! It was divine. "
