I am a college student currently working on a degree in Biology, hoping to go into Veterinary Medicine or possibly ichthyology. I've been dealing with various chronic illnesses since I was very young and, after a cataclysmic episode several years ago, I began a quest to find healing. I've had to leave my Texas home and comfort behind, but I've met some fantastic friends and doctors from both modern and traditional medical fields. Although I still enjoy the occasional meal of junk food, I've learned that a healthy diet is a big part of maintaining my overall health and the most satisfying food is the kind that I prepare myself with (and for) my friends and family.
My favorite foods are green veggies (seaweed, kale, broccoli, and the like), salmon, and carrot cake. I have an extensive list of food allergies/sensitivities so I've had to become very adept at making substitutions in my favorite dishes. I haven't figured out how to make dairy- and sugar- free cream cheese frosting yet, but i'm always working at converting some baked good or other into a gluten- or grain-free version. I also bake cookies, cakes, muffins, pies, etc... in the original format for my non-allergic friends and family. I'm not a vegetarian, but my diet is very veggie-centric.
