    About Me

Born and bred in Southern Africa (Durbs) I made my first "pot roast" at the age of 9. Since then I have experimented with all types of cooking, but, my passion lies with tarts.

Since furthering my journey in life and moving to Canada,I  have had to adapt to different ingrediants that may compliment my many "south african cook books!"

My favourite cookbook is called " The complete South African Cookbook" by Magdaleen Van Wyk which was given to me by my mom in law in 1985.

My two beagles Duke and Duchess arer my fur"children" and keep me on my toes!

    Favorite Foods

My favourite dish - wow, that is tough. I recently made 10 melkterts for my daughter in laws' "kitchen tea" and 10 lemon meringue pies. Scottish eggs are requested by my hair dresser -
I am always up for a challenge when it comes to "stirring" around the oven.

    Myf avourite restaurant is Milestones.

Premium Kobe beef served over garlic mashed potatoes, smothered with shiitake mushroom au jus and topped with lightly fried onion strings. Accompanied by savoury bread pudding & steamed seasonal vegetables - was totally to die for!!

I have to add that my eldest son's wedding reception at Jasper was a memory impregnated with food that one would totally die for... we were afforded the luxury of fine cuisine at Andy's Bistro... here is a review
The owner has been a chef for 21 years. Let us say he knows his stuff and that makes this a great restaurant to try. Andy likes presenting plenty of fresh pastries, fruits and herbs together with traditional Swiss fare. It is a casual atmosphere but the service is top-notch. Candle-lit tables make for an intimate experience and be sure to say hi to Andy, the owner, before heading out for a stroll in the fresh mountain air. 606 Patricia Street. Reservations are a good idea.... my mum of 77 polished every plate that was served .... what more can we say... absolutely wonderful....
