Reviewed Uncle Bill's Fried Potatoes and Onions
"Beautiful!!! Well, not entirely I was a little heavy handed turning my potatoes so they fell apart too much to post a nice looking photo! But I'll work on that...the addition of the dill weed, I wasn't sure would work, but that made it even more delicious than I expected...Also I love the different photo presentations.Great ideas for breakfast, lun..."

Reviewed Scrambled Eggs in the Microwave (Great for Work!)
"I know this should be relatively easy to fix in a pinch, but what I like about your helpful recipe - is that I don't have to add any oil. I like treating my pet birds every now and then, and they can't process oil, but love an occasional bite of scrambled eggs. Plus it's healthy for the rest of us! Thanks for posting! I now know the secret!"

Shared Recipe Tamale Cheese Dinner
"I like to keep a can of tamales on hand for this quick dinner treat. Top with sliced avocado and a spoonful of cottage cheese or sour cream."

Shared Recipe Barbecued Franks
"....mmmm, good! You'd think they were barbecued wieners you'd grilled outside, instead baked in the oven. Add this with my favorite Potato Celery Supreme dish, and green beans on the side and you have a meal!"

Shared Recipe Good and Sloppy Joes
"I found this recipe many years ago when I was a new cook, and found the stuff you make from a can just didn't cut it for me. Plus it's so simple, truly sloppy and oh so yummy!"

Shared Recipe Potato Celery Supreme
"This recipe was found in an old cookbook passed down to me as an apartment warming gift years ago. I love it because it's the least amount of ingredients a huge amount of flavor. I always serve with my Barbecue Franks and a side of green beans. Enjoy!"

Shared Recipe T's Crockpot Chili Mac
"Hold the beans on my slow-cooked chili mac, please! I can't recall where I found this recipe, but it's a good one. Easily works as well, on the stovetop, if you need to eat sooner."

I live in Northern California. I have 4 birds and a dog.
I love to check cookbooks out of the library. Many of the cookbooks I own either I've bought or I inherited from my mother. My favorite cookbooks are those that carry a collection of recipes from everyday people like Recipezaar. I love trying new recipes. I feel a magical connection with other great cooks of the world. Thank you all for your contributions!
Initially, I like trying a recipe the way the cook posted it. However, I also find the tips & suggestions from reviewers very helpful, and often use these pointers as well.
I admit I'm not an adventurous cook. My imagination is limited. When suddenly thrown into the kitchen w/o a plan, idea, or recipe..I panic. (yes..sadly I'm one of those cooks who can't function well w/o a recipe).
I'm drawn to recipes I believe will taste good based on my experience. I'm rarely wrong when I take that route. The 5 star ratings can be helpful, but taste buds vary, so I don't always rely on that. For foods I'm not at all familiar with, I admit it has to have good reviews before I'll try it. I hate wasting food, so I play it safe that way. Every once and awhile I choose a recipe that has never been reviewed. Well, that can be a bit risky, but still fun b/c I get to review it in the end, whether good or not so good.
I love Recipezaar. I am addicted to this site. If I weren't so busy cooking up repeat performances...I'd probably try more recipes than I have. I applaud all who participate. For me, it's all about having fun in the kitchen & enjoying good food.
Bon Appetit', to all!
My favorite comfort dish to cook is spaghetti with meat sauce, baked macaroni and cheese, sweet potato pie, quick breads and soup w/ a side of cornbread.
Before I was forced to adopt a more restricted diet, I would never turn down an opportunity to try all kinds of foods. My motto being: Don't knock it if you haven't tried it.
Now I'm leaning more towards vegan/vegetarian dishes. Which isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

"This is actually a very hearty vegetarian stew. Serve up a bowl on a cold blistery winter day. Add a chunk of hot sweet corn bread and you've got a good meal!"
