Shared Recipe Nana's Apple Dumplings With Nutmeg Milk

"This is the way our family always ate apple dumplings. The dumplings are baked in a cinnamon syrup and rather than a scoop of ice cream, we made nutmeg milk to pour over the top."

Reviewed Coffee Cake With Cranberry Swirl

"Favorite coffee-cake of all time. My recipe was so close to this one, that rather than enter it, I'm just going to post the glaze in a review. My recipe was originally scaled 1 1/2 times this one, so it makes a deep dish 9 x 13. The glaze is 1 1/2 C Powdered sugar, 1/2 t vanilla, 1/2 t almond extract and 2T warm water. I wouldn't make it withou..."

    About Me

Left working as an ophthalmic medical assistant to be a SAHM 14 years ago, have 3 kids, 1 english pointer and the best husband ever.

    Love decorating

    Hate whining

Love eating dinner outside on the deck with the family-the best memories

Love my Weber gas grill, use it year round.  Would love a charcoal one someday.

I'm inspired to cook everytime I have my children's friends over for dinner and they eat only nuggets.  I take my job as family nutritionist seriously and feel it's my job to cook what they need to stay strong.  So far, it's going well, they eat all kinds of food.

    Favorite Foods

One of my favorite things to cook is vegetables.  Tender-crisp is my middle name.  I switched us to all fresh veggies a couple years ago and believe me, there is no going back.  We didn't realize how bad frozen veggies were until months after we switched.  Tried to steam frozen something for a quick dinner side and the whole family just stared at it.  Not sure anyone ate it.

Not sure that I'm famous for anything as I like to cook new recipes all the time to keep it fun.  When you cook for a family every night, it gets very monotonous, this is how I cope.

    Favorite restaurant-Chipotle!
